GW Veterans members greet a veteran at an event at the Lincoln

Signature Events

The Military and Veteran Services hosts a number of signature events throughout the year for our military-affiliated students.

Tailgate and Resource Fair

New and returning military-affiliated students (veterans, service members, dependents) and their families are invited to attend our yearly MVS Tailgate and Resource Fair.

The Tailgate is always a great time to meet other military-affiliated students and network with the people and organizations supporting military-affiliated students on campus.

The Resource Fair includes an Orientation and Benefit Information Session, where you will learn the process of using your VA benefits at GW to ensure that there are no hiccups down the road in the processing of your benefits. This session will answer most of your common questions like: What is the BAH rate? What is the certification process like? When will my tuition bill be paid by the VA? How does the book stipend work? Do I need to apply for Yellow Ribbon every year?

Veterans Month

Since 2008, the week of November 9th through November 15th has been dedicated by the US government as "Veterans Awareness Week" to emphasize the need to develop educational programs regarding the contributions of veterans to the country.

The George Washington University is proud to celebrate this week with a myriad of events celebrating our veterans and our military.

Check out GW Today for a recap of Veterans Week 2017.

Military Mile Memorial March (M4)

The Military and Veteran Services and the GW Veterans student organization present the annual Military Mile Memorial March (M4) which honors the past and celebrates the future of military-affiliated students at the George Washington University.

This family-friendly event kicks off with a 5K Run/Walk through the National Mall and it’s memorial parks. Student veterans from GW will lead participants on a themed tour to the Washington Monument, the World War II Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Veterans Park at GW.

Participants can choose to do the tour as a 5k walk or as a jog; all ability levels are welcome!

More information on the 2018-2019 M4 coming soon.
