The George Washington University (GW) is steadfast in its commitment to maximize student success by providing educational and student services to those who have served. The Ribbon Project prepares and empowers the GW community to provide those services.
The Ribbon Project is an immersive program hosted by the Office of Military and Veteran Student Services for GW students, faculty and staff. It aims to bridge the communication gap between our students, faculty and staff and our military-affiliated students (veterans, current service members, and their dependents).
The Ribbon Project is an immersion style training program designed to guide participants through the experience of becoming a student veteran by exposing them to aspects of basic training, deployment and transitions out of the military and into higher education. By attending these sessions, participants will develop an informed frame of reference to continue to support those who have served within the US Armed Forces and those who continue to serve.
Leading the training session are current GW students who have served or are currently serving in the US Armed Forces. Their stories and experiences shape each Ribbon Project and provide students, faculty and staff unique insight into the world of higher education for military-affiliated students.
