As a VetSuccess on Campus counselor, Laura aims to help Veterans, Servicemembers, and their qualified dependents succeed and thrive through a coordinated delivery of on-campus benefits assistance and counseling, leading to completion of their education and preparing them to enter the workforce. She grew up in Western MA and attended Western New England College and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, then earned her Master’s Degree in Rehabilitative and Disabilities Studies with a concentration in psychiatric diagnosis and substance abuse counseling at Springfield College. She is a member of Psi Chi – The National Honor Society in Psychology and Chi Sigma Iota – Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International.
Laura worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a vocational rehabilitation counselor before moving to DC Metro area in 2011. She worked as vocational rehabilitation specialist for the State of Maryland for a year. She has been with the Department of Veterans Affairs for almost 4 years as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, working with Veterans with disabilities to gain skills and seek employment. In 2015, she was transferred to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to work with wounded, ill and injured service members as they transition out of the service and into their next career. She is very excited to continue her career with the Department of Veterans Affairs and utilize the knowledge working at the DC Office and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to assist the Veterans at GWU to finish their programs and transition into a great career.
