2016 GW Navy ROTC Commissioning

On May 13th, 2016, twenty-two individuals completed their Naval Officer training and became Ensigns and 2nd Lieutenants in the Navy and Marine Corps. The commissioning ceremony was held in the Betts Auditorium of the Marvin Center, with over three hundred guests and family members attending. Major General Charles Frank Bolden Jr., USMC (Ret), currently the administrator of NASA, spoke about the great responsibility and privilege each commissionee was undertaking. In addition to Maj. General Bolden as the official speaker, remarks were provided by Dean Emeritus of the GW School of Public Health Richard Southby, as well as the Commanding Officer of the NROTC program, Captain James R. Wyatt.

This annual ceremony marks an important milestone in each commissionee’s life, as well as the friends and family who helped them make it there. As of May 13th, these twenty-two individuals are trusted by the President of the United States of America to lead some of the finest men and women in our great nation. Bravo Zulu!
